The Herkimer Diamond aka the “Stone of Attunement” is a brilliant double-terminated quartz crystal that is native to Herkimer County, New York. According to author Robert Simmons, Herkimer Diamonds are a stone of the new consciousness which will accelerate and enhance human evolution. History
Known also as “Little Falls Diamond” or “Middleville Diamond”, Herkimer Diamonds were discovered in the late 18th century in the Mohawk River Valley in Herkimer County, New York. The very first discoveries were in the city of Little Falls and the village of Middleville, both located in Herkimer County. The crystals can be found in other places in the world such as Pakistan, China, France and Italy, however, only those mined in Herkimer County can be given the name Herkimer Diamond. The Mohawk Indians are believed to have been the first to discover the diamonds by accident. Later, some workers officially discovered the gems in the 1700’s when cutting into the dolomite. This unique find led to a diamond rush. Herkimer diamonds are estimated to be over 500 million years old and found in sediment in Little Falls called dolostone. Dolostone (dolomite and limestone) blanketed Herkimer County during the Precabrian age when it was at the bottom of the sea that at that time covered North America. Herkimer diamonds were coveted by native Americans for their powerful spiritual and healing properties. These crystals share a special relationship to the people who referred to themselves as Kanyenkehaka or “The People of The Crystals”. Early settlers and the Mohawk desired the crystals and used them in various ways including amulets, tools, and for trade.
Herkimer Diamonds are clear with a glassy sheen, and sometimes feature rainbows. They were named the official state mineral of New York in 2012. Unlike most crystals they were formed in pockets and are not attached to a matrix. Since Herkimer Diamond grows in pockets free from a surrounding matrix, they form with points on both ends (double-terminated). Quartz does not adhere to dolostone. They are currently not commercially mined due to various laws in the state of New York that limit mining which makes them a rarity.

Proper Care
To cleanse, use lukewarm water and mild soap with a soft cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or ultrasonic cleaners. You may place it next to or on selenite to spiritually cleanse. Sage/smudging and palo santo will also cleanse your crystal and release negative energies. Herkimer Diamond is a crystal that responds well to sunlight therefore can be cleansed and charged by the sun. Another alternative is to place it in the light of the full moon for 6-8 hours to charge.

Also dubbed the “Gemstone of Connectedness”, Moldavite if a form of tektite, which is one of the rarest minerals on the earth. Tektite is a natural form of extraterrestrial glass that has been ejected during meteorite collisions with the earth. Named after the Moldau River Valley in the Czech Republic, this valuable gemstone in indigenous to this area of the world only and has a color range from the bottle green, to olive green and can even appear as a brownish green.
History
Moldavite was first discovered in the Moldau River Valley and described by the scientific public in 1786. Of true space origin, this gemstone is the product of a meteor impact on earth that took place nearly 15 million years ago. True Moldavite has only been found across four different strewn fields from a meteor impact that was about 15 miles of length in total. Unlike many other varieties of tektite, Moldavite has nearly perfect clarity and a unique green color. Although it is commonly agreed upon by the scientific community that Moldavite was partially if not completely composed in outer space, there is still a mystery on how exactly they were created.
The stone’s mystery and scarcity are the reasons it is so prized in the gemstone world. Still given as gifts by royalty, legend states that this stone was the green stone of the holy grail and has the power to quickens one’s spiritual evolution. Early cavemen were believed to use it for talismans that offered protection, provided fertility and offered good fortune. A Moldavite figurine of a woman named “the Venus of Willendorf”, was found in Austria and dated back 27,000 years.
Sadly, authentic moldavite is found much less often than the manmade fakes being sold on today’s market. Many believe that over 70% of what is traded and sold is actually just melted green glass and not real. Authentic moldavite should contain small (almost microscopic) bubbles that are not round but rather imperfect. Due to the vast mining production and demand for the gemstone, it is widely thought that all sources will be depleted by the year 2026.

Rarer than diamonds, Tanzanite is found in only one locale in the world, Tanzania. It boasts shades of blue, burgundy, brown and violet variants in its raw state and is considered trichroic, meaning that it shows three colors concurrently. Tanzanite is known for its blue and violet hues, which only come to be through either natural heating beneath the ground, or artificial heat treating, in which both methods remove the brown/burgundy veil of the stone. Heat treatment of this stone does not affect its metaphysical healing gifts, rather allows the beauty of the blue and violet hues to truly shine.

History
Tanzanite was formed approximately 585 million years ago during the Ediacaran Period by gigantic plate tectonic activity and immense heat near the area that would eventually become Mount Kilimanjaro. The mesmerizing gemstone is only found in the Simanjiro District of Manyara Region in Tanzania. The mining area is only 7 km long and 2 km wide near the Mererani Hills. The gemstone coined its name from Tiffany & Co. after Tanzania, the country in which it was originally found. The Tiffany & Co. marketing department deemed the original name of “blue-violet zoisite” to not be consumer friendly, and therefore coined the name “Tanzanite” when they introduced the stone into the market in 1968. Tanzanite also became an official December birthstone in 2002 by the American Gemstone Trade Association, which hadn’t changed its birthstone list since 1912.
The gemstone was first discovered in July 1967 by Manuel de Souza, a part-time gold prospector living in Tanzania. Manuel de Souza was notified by a group of Maasai herders who came across the blue crystals while tending to their livestock. He originally thought it to be Peridot but soon after, concluded it was not. He then sent samples of the stone to John Saul, a geologist and gemstone wholesaler who also could not identify it. John then sent samples to his father Hyman Saul who at the time was Vice President of Saks Avenue in New York. Hyman then decided to take the samples to the Geological Institute of America where the stone was officially identified as a new gem variety.
No one is exactly sure how much Tanzanite there is remaining to be unearthed in Tanzania. It is predicted by geologists that this magical gem will be mined out in the near future. Once Tanzanite is gone, it will become a historic stone that is sought after by gem and mineral collectors throughout the world.
